Jeremy McEntire
Jeremy McEntire received his Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from VCU in 1997. He completed his Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory in 1999. Jeremy then spent two years as Principal Flute in the Orquesta Sinfonica de la U.A.N.L. in Monterrey, Mexico. He has also served a piccolist in the Richmond Symphony, and he regularly performs with the Roanoke Symphony. Jeremy is a trained Suzuki Flute Teacher and also serves as Adjunct Flute Instructor at the University of Richmond. In addition to flute, Jeremy teaches piano and MYC at the TDS, having himself studied piano from the age of 3.

Kara Hill
Kara Hill is a professional educator with over ten years experience in the public school system. She has taught in
New York City, the City of Richmond, and Hanover County, Virginia. She has experienced the world of the
gifted from many facets; as a student at the Bronx High School of Science in New York, as a gifted cluster
teacher in the Hanover County Public Schools, and as a parent of a gifted student. She has her BA from the
College of William and Mary with a concentration in English and Fine Arts, and a Masters of Teaching from
Virginia Commonwealth University. She is currently taking classes towards endorsement in Gifted Education.
Her favorite part of teaching is developing multi-modal lesson plans that integrate hands-on learning with
exposure to art, literature, math, science, and history to share with her enthusiastic students. Kara writes leveled
readers to accompany textbooks, interactive textbooks, and test questions for companies such as The Princeton
Review, Houghton-Mifflin, Zaner-Bloser, and McGraw Hill. She has also been a consultant in the development
of a web based lesson planning site that integrates state standards with lesson plans for all 50 states. Her hobbies
include reading, cooking, and weaving. She and her husband live in Mechanicsville with their two sons.
James Lynn
James Lynn, a native of Richmond, will begin teaching at The Talent Developing Studio this summer. He holds a BFA in Music from Carnegie Mellon University and a Masters degree from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
He has enjoyed a ten-year operatic career during which he sang in performances from San Francisco to Lisbon, Portugal for such companies as Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Virginia Opera, Lyric Opera of Cleveland, and San Francisco Opera’s Western Opera Theater. He has performed a wide variety of repertoire from standard opera such as The Marriage of Figaro, Rigoletto, and The Elixir of Love, to more modern opera such as Wozzeck and the world premieres of Tobias Picker’s Emmeline and Harold Blumenfeld’s Seasons in Hell. He recently made his debut at the Center of the Universe in the 2005 Ashland Variety Show.
James has enjoyed returning to his roots in the Richmond area and hopes to foster classical vocal talents and techniques in his teaching.
JoAnne Whitlow
Mrs. Whitlow is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she began playing the violin at the age of seven. She attended the Governor's Magnet School for the Arts in Norfolk, Virginia. Mrs. Whitlow studied violin at Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a Bachelors of Music degree, with a minor in general business. She was awarded a teacher assistantship with the VCU Orchestra in coordination with her Masters Degree in Music. She began teaching orchestra in Hanover County in 2001. Recently, she was invited to guest conduct the 2005 Chesterfield All-County 7th grade orchestra and has attended conducting workshops with Sandra Dackow.
Currently, Mrs. Whitlow is teaching violin lessons at the Talent Developing Studio, near the Hanover County Courthouse. This summer she will be offering classes in beginning violin for four to six year old children, a transition class for rising 6th grade students beginning or contining with strings in middle school, beginning through advanced chamber orchestras, private and group violin, viola and piano lessons, and audition preparation courses for the Central and Senior Regional Orchestras.
Kristen McEntire
Kristen McEntire officially joined the McEntire family in 1997 when she married Jeremy. After working as a public and private elementary school teacher for seven years, Kristen settled into her profession of mother to her two children.
